I just met Karen Kingsbury! In this picture, we are holding our books that are currently linked on Amazon.
She said I have been on her radar because most of my promotional material says "in the tradition of Karen Kingsbury" *blush*. Anyway, she asked if I'd have my publisher send her a copy, and I said "sure". Cheryl ,the Borders Sales Manager said, "Wait a second, we've got a copy right here." Then Karen Kingsbury, THE Karen Kingsbury, asked me to sign my book for her!!! I managed to remain conscious, but I'm still not certain whose name I signed on the book :-)
She stood there and chatted with Julie Carobini and me for half an hour. What a sweet, humble spirited woman of God she is. (And so is Julie, come to think of it). A nice night all around.

What a wonderful photo! Glad you were able to spend some time talking with her. I really treasure the conversation I had with Julie here in Dallas and I sure wish I knew more about you then so I could have come over and bugged you as well. Watch out for me the next time :)
Katie--I'm cracking up here because of the little typo in this entry. You have down that Karen asked you to "sing" your book for her. Hmm. Now THAT I would've liked to see. :)
Ha, CJ! I guess we all know 2 things about Katie now:
1) I NEED my editors
2) When my adrenaline gets flowing, you just don't know what might happen :-)
And um, trust me, you would NOT have wanted to be ANYWHERE near if I was going to sing my book :-)
Katie, please tell me you signed MY name to that book, lol! Talk about promotion - hee hee.
I really had a blast last night talking with Karen. She kept giving me advice and my mental typewriter was taking it all down.
Oh, and I'll have to check out your singing the next time we're together...
Katie, is this the same store that hosted your signing in October? They must ROCK.
How very cool that you had that opportunity. And I agree--the photo is wonderful.
Man, I wish I still lived in SB.
Becky
Yes, this is the same store where Julie, Jim and I did our signing. They have been AWESOME about the whole thing (although I think we are their first attempt at a Christian fiction event). They've invited me back for a December signing. I told them I'd be happy to come, but I called in every single favor to get people to the first one :-).
So, on Dec. 16th we're hoping for a few Christmas shoppers!
See, my review was right!! HA! I knew it! You are MY Karen Kingsbury!!!!
I am SO bummed to have missed this! What an awesome opportunity for both you and Julie (oh and everyone else there) and for the Christian fiction market and readers. Putting the 16th on my calendar...I'm sure there are folks I know who missed the first one.
how funny--i just reviewed your book and commented on the fact that KK is my top-favourite author and you were slated to join her. lol
